Today was definitely a day for white marlin fishing! The past few days all of our boats have reported seeing a high numbers of the billfish at the canyons. We would like to first report that the “Muff Diver” with Captain Wayne Bradford has been running trips later and has missed the reports but he has been catching high numbers of yellow fin tuna! In the past three days the crew has killed 43 yellow fin ranging in size from 30-60 pounds. Captain Jermey Shandrowski took the long way home today and stopped at the scales for the Mid-Atlantic with a big blue marlin. It was a beautiful fish but was just a few inches short. Congrats to the crew on the “Playmate” on their catch!!! High hook for the day goes to Captain Ed Kauffman on the “Jade II” who returned with a 6 white marlin flags flying from the rigger. The “Moore Bills” with Captain Rob Skillman added a few releases to his total tally today returning with 3 white marlin releases. Captain Jermey Blunt on the “Wrecker” also released 3 big white marlin today. Three was definitely the popular number today as Captain Dale Lisi on the “Foolish Pleasures” also returned with 3 white marlin releases and 3 gaffer dolphin. Another white marlin was released by the “Bill$ 4 Bills” with Captain Ron Calis who also returned with 14 tilefish, which is no surprise to most that know Captain Ron Calis! Aboard the “Last Call” Captain Franky Pettolina returned with a white marlin release as well as releasing a shark! Some of our private boats have been having success with the marlin too, including the “Top Dog” with Captain Todd Dickerson who released 4 white marlin today. The “Bay Bee” reports higher numbers of throwbacks in the past few days but with the overcast weather flounder fishing was a little difficult today! We anticipate great flounder fishing in the next few weeks to come!
