Despite the report of wind today a good number of the boats in the marina went fishing. Most were successful and returned with reports of white marlin. Captain Chad Meeks on the “All In” returned today after releasing 3 white marlin while trolling at the canyons. First back to the docks and after some engine work the “Reel Attitude” with Captain mark Deimler had a good day today and returned with 6 gaffer dolphin, a yellow fin tuna, and 2 Mako releases. Captain Dale Lisi who returned yesterday with a 170 pound big eye and 3 gaffer dolphin returned today with a report of a white release. Two white marlin were released aboard the “Game Over” with Captain Steve Pfeiffer who also returned with a 62 pound yellow fin. Today the “Playmate” with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski also released a white marlin as did Captain Jeremy Blunt on the “Blood, Sweat & Tears” and Captain Franky Pettolina on the “Last Call.” A few dolphin and some tuna were in the fish box on the “Bill$ 4 Bills” today with Captain Mike Conner at the helm. More dolphin were seen on the “Game Changer” with Captain Fred Husman. Tilefish master Captain Ron Calis returned with 6 golden tile fish and 11 blue line tile fish on the “Reel Addiction” today; five of the golden tile fish had a total stringer of 78 pounds. After returning from an overnight the “Lady J” with Captain Ron Bortnick returned with a swordfish and a white marlin release. Flounder fishing continues to be exceptional at the wrecks and reefs and Captain Monty Hawkins on the “Morning Star” is returning with plenty of keeper flounder. Keeper flounder are more elusive among the many throwbacks that we are currently seeing in the bays. Captain Cale Layton on the “Bay Bee” did however find 2 keepers on his morning trip and then continued to report throwbacks for the remainder of the day. High numbers of throwbacks were also reported from Captain Nick Clemente on the “Get Sum” who took a few 2 hour trips today. The wind has put a slight damper on the fishing the past few days, we are hoping it lies down and we can really get some high numbers of fish soon!
