Twenty-four boats left the Fishing Center bright and early this morning in their search for fish; needless to say it was a busy evening at OCFC! Plenty of fish hit the docks and all of our boats reported decent fishing action. Tuna are officially here! The “Moore Bills” with Captain Rob Skillman returned to the docks with his limit of yellow fin today (18 fish) (photo below). A nice sized yellowfin was seen on the “Jade II” with Captain Ed Kaufman. The fish weighed in at 56 pounds. Another two yellowfin hit the docks from the “Reel Attitude” with Captain Mark Deimler. The “Game Changer” with Captain Fred Husman returned with 3 yellowfin but reported heavy tuna action while trolling at the Baltimore Canyon. Heavy tuna action was also seen by Captain Greg Ignash on the “Reel Addiction” who led his crew to a nice sized yellowfin. On the “Good Time” with Captain Jeremy Blunt reported some shark action today. Our private boats also had successful days offshore today as well. On the “Empty Pockets” Liz Mellen reeled in an 87.8 pound yellowfin which earned her a position on our leaderboard and on the leaderboard in the Ocean City Marlin Club Small boat tournament! Congrats Liz! The “Wayne’s World” participated in the yellow fin bite and returned with 2 nice yellowfin today as well. On the “Recon” Captain Ed Barker reported releasing a mako shark as well as some yellowfin and returned with 2 nice yellowfin in the box. A dolphin and a yellowfin were the results of a day of fishing on the “Tuna Dog” with Captain Aric Gilley at the helm. A 90 pound mako was brought back by the crew on the private boat the “Unreel.” More sharks were released on the “Fish Finder” with Captain Mark Sampson including spinners and sandbars. Bay fishing picked up with the improvement in the weather as well! Captain Nick Clemente on the bay private charter the “Get Sum” returned from his morning trip with a rare catch a red drum which was accompanied by a keeper flounder among the many throwbacks. His afternoon trip had quite a few keepers with the heaviest weighing 4.4 pounds which earned the new leaderboard position at the fishing center. Congrats to angler Sarah Perl! (photo below) The “Bay Bee” the bay fishing headboat had a total of 4 keepers and a multitude of throwbacks between its two trips today. Finally the weather is nice, the fish are here and summer has officially begun. Don’t miss your opportunity to fish with Ocean City’s Premier Charter fleet.
